Intersect’s core product line is the Power Transfer Load Center (PTLC) combining at least four service entrance (SE) components into one box—saving inventory and installation expense as well as reducing wall space otherwise required for the individual panels.

An automatic transfer switch (ATS) or mechanically interlocked manual transfer (MTS) switch is essential to transfer from the utility to an alternative power source with no (ATS) or minimal (MTS) effort in the event of a utility power outage. Main disconnect breakers enable power to the PTLC—whether from the utility or from an engine generator—to be turned “on” or “off” to all loads. A surge protection device protects all loads from transients or spikes generated from such sources as lightning, faulty transformers, or load switching. And the panelboard or branch breaker distribution panel enables power feeds to all loads. Monitoring is optional as is a means of connecting to an alternate power source such as an engine generator via CamLok connectors or a generator receptacle.

A new ILC Series of MTS PTLC’s is lighter weight, integrated with recessed CamLoks for smaller width, yet SE rated. The ILC Series is an innovative addition to Intersect’s core PTLC offerings.

The Power Transfer Center (PTC) is an ideal product for retrofit applications enabling easy addition of main disconnect breakers, transfer switch—ATS or MTS--and surge protection to sites up with an existing panelboard or distribution panel. Site hardening is accomplished at minimal expense for installation and space through the addition of a PTC panel providing three SE components.

Power Distribution Centers (PDC) are unique for 100 amps or less micro-, mini- or pole-mounted telecommunication sites. A lightweight, compact aluminum 9x9x5 enclosure promotes quick installations in customized powder-coated colors. Recently combined with an optional meter socket enclosure, the PDC offers pad-lockable eight circuit-breaker distribution with optional surge protection.

Telco & Safety Boxes

NEMA Type 3R outdoor Telco and Safety Box enclosures are used for a variety of storage and equipment solutions. Initially designed to install side-by-side so that their doors provided a “wind break” for technicians on H-frame sites, Telco and Safety Boxes have evolved to provide separate application advantages for their respective designs. The Telco Box may be designed with an AC/DC fan; a heater thermostat; telco board; double-lug ground bar; and 19” rack mount (rails) for rack mounting. The Safety Box generally is sold with plywood backing; an adjustable shelf; a document holder; and AC receptacles. Both boxes may be customized.

Historically, the connection of an engine generator as an alternative power source required “matching” receptacles and plugs for telco sites of 200 or 400 amps. During environmental disasters, when hundreds or even thousands of mobile engine generator sets may be deployed, the necessity of having a specific plug or receptacle may jeopardize the availability of emergency power. A simpler solution is the use of CamLok connectors—In 2007, Intersect introduced its compact yet secure CamLok connector panels and since then tens of thousands have been sold due to the ICGC’s easy, universal connectivity for portable, mobile gen sets. Small pad-lockable aluminum cabinets provide dead front protective covers; a hinged bottom closure to prevent exposure of or easy access to CamLok connectors; and a “switchable” door for left or right opening.

ASCO Series 300 automatic transfer switches have been Intersect’s exclusive choice for over 20 years due to their reliability to transfer critical loads in the event of a power outage. The Group G Controller, the rugged interface for switch settings, allows adjustments to features without opening the panel door. The Group G Controller has a multi-lingual User interface and password protection to prevent un-authorized tampering with controls. Intersect is an authorized channel to market for the ASCO Series 300, and you may request a Quote via the Contact page.
